EAU Education Office (European School of Urology)
Never stop learning
The congress allows us to pool our knowledge and experience, to teach and to learn. Every year we see the launch of new courses that address a multitude of topics, giving everybody excellent opportunities to pick up valuable information and new skills. Congress delegates are always enthusiastic about these courses, with many “booked out” long before the start of the congress. Organised by the European School of Urology, the courses are tailored to the needs of urology professionals, taking into account their level of expertise as well as their interests and aspirations.
At the 25th Anniversary Congress in Barcelona you will be able to choose from nearly 40 different courses, both general and narrowly specialised. As requested by many, this edition will feature a series of courses on robotic surgery, dealing with a wide range of issues associated with this minimally invasive technology.
One such course, “Robot surgery in urology – how to start”, chaired by Dr. H. Van Der Poel, will give an insight into the various technical and financial aspects associated with this technology. During the course, the lecturers will answer a number of essential questions: “Is your institute capable of supporting such a programme?”, “What are the financial consequences?”, “What equipment is needed?”, “Who needs training and how will this training take place?” and many others.
A large number of courses will deal with laparoscopic surgery in urology, ranging from “Laparoscopy for beginners” to “Advanced course on upper tract laparoscopy (UPJ, adrenal and stones)”.
Along with courses on various aspects of urological surgery, delegates will be able to hear lectures on various office-based approaches to disease management: “Prostate cancer – screening, diagnosis and staging”, “Office management of male sexual dysfunction”, “Chronic pelvic pain syndromes”, “The infertile couple – urological aspects” among others.
The programme is extensive and tackles numerous subjects related to the every-day urology practice. However, in Barcelona you will also be able to find courses that help fine-tune your researcher skills. How to prepare your article for publication? What are the main criteria of a successful and credible scientific article? These and many other questions will be answered by the editor-in-chief of European Urology.
